Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) has awarded a $5,000 grant to the Allen County Public Library Foundation in support of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Allen County. The program provides children from birth to age five with free, high-quality, age-appropriate books mailed directly to their homes each month—helping foster early literacy, learning readiness, and a lifelong love of reading.

The grant will help sustain and expand access to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for families throughout Allen County. Since launching locally in 2024, the program has already made a measurable impact on early childhood literacy and community engagement – serving more than 8,000 children with more than 60,000 books.

“Access to books in the early years is a key indicator to a child’s future educational success and prepares children to enter kindergarten ready to learn to read,” said ACPL Executive Director Susan P. Baier. “We are tremendously grateful for the generous support of Indiana Michigan Power. Every day, we add children to our program and gifts like this make it possible to continue to grow and serve the children of Allen County.”

Media are invited to join representatives from Indiana Michigan Power and the Allen County Public Library for interviews and photos.
