Government Documents
Federal Depository Library Program
The Allen County Public Library is a member of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP), whose mission is to provide free local access to the wealth of information published and distributed by the federal government. ACPL has been a member since 1896. Today, our holdings contain print and electronic resources, including census statistics, laws passed by Congress, Supreme Court opinions, resources on civics education, and compilations of presidential speeches and statements. These resources and more can be accessed online through this guide created by the FDLP.
While the print materials in the government documents collection are accessible at the Main Library, ACPL provides electronic access to the same materials and more online. You can access these digital materials through the library’s catalog from anywhere in the world. Simply click the weblinks included in each title’s catalog record to access the materials online. Bonus tip: search using the "FDLP" subject heading in the library catalog to narrow your results to government documents.
Some of our physical holdings include original propaganda posters from the Second World War, definitive volumes of military history, including this history of the Vietnam War, original soil surveys and maps, nineteenth century Coast Surveys, and NASA publications, including this atlas of the first close-up photographs of the moon’s surface. You can also view these materials online through their catalog records.
