The Allen County Public Library (ACPL) is inviting young patrons to make a meaningful difference this December through “Toys for Tails”, a hands-on crafting event where children create enrichment toys for animals currently staying at Humane Fort Wayne.

Designed especially for students in grades 4–6—these fun, purpose-driven workshops teach participants how simple handmade toys can help keep shelter pets comforted, stimulated, and ready for adoption. All completed toys will be donated directly to Humane Fort Wayne.

“Toys for Tails” will be offered at multiple ACPL locations throughout December:

  • Tuesday, December 9 from 4 to 4:45 p.m. at the Dupont Branch

  • Saturday, December 13 from 2–3 p.m. at the Main Library

  • Saturday, December 13 from 2–3 p.m. at the Georgetown Branch

  • Wednesday, December 31 | 2–3 p.m. at the Aboite Branch

“These workshops are a great way for kids to learn the power of small acts of kindness,” said Director of Community Partnerships and Programs Beth Boatright. “Every toy made helps brighten the day of an animal waiting for a home—and that’s something our young patrons can be proud of.”

The events are free and open to the public. Pre-registration is available at www.acpl.info/events or by visiting any ACPL location.
