The Woodburn Branch of the Allen County Public Library (ACPL) will welcome a special guest on Wednesday, May 13, as Indy 500 Festival Princess Hannah Dietel joins the branch’s storytime from 11 a.m. to noon for a racing-themed program celebrating one of Indiana’s most iconic traditions and the world’s largest single-day spectator sporting event – the Indianapolis 500.

Dietel, a Woodburn native and University of Saint Francis senior studying health and exercise science, was selected as one of just 33 ambassadors for this year’s Indianapolis 500 Festival. As a Festival Princess, she represents her community while sharing the legacy and excitement of the world-famous Indianapolis 500.

During storytime, Dietel will read a picture book about Indy cars and racing, offering children an engaging introduction to the sport and its history. Families can also enjoy a hands-on craft activity following the reading, giving young attendees a chance to connect creativity with the thrill of race day.

“One of the most meaningful parts of being a 500 Festival Princess is connecting with the community,” said Dietel. “Woodburn has always been an important place to me, and I’m excited to share the history and excitement of the Indianapolis 500 with local families.”

This special storytime highlights ACPL’s ongoing commitment to bringing unique educational and cultural experiences to neighborhoods across Allen County. By partnering with local leaders and organizations, the library continues to create opportunities for children and families to learn, explore, and celebrate Indiana traditions together.

The program is free and open to the public. No registration is required. For more information, visit ACPL.info.
