Audiobooks, Print Fiction, and “Dog Man” Top ACPL’s List of Most Popular Items

The Allen County Public Library (ACPL) is wrapping up 2025 by celebrating the stories, characters, and entertainment our community couldn’t get enough of this year. From wildly popular digital audiobooks and e-Books to page-turning novels, family favorites, and hit video games, ACPL’s most-checked-out items reflect a year full of reading, listening, watching, and playing. 

Audiobooks and e-Books, continued to grow in popularity in 2025 led by Rebecca Yarros’ fantasy follow-up “Onyx Storm,” and Abby Jimenez’s “Say You’ll Remember Me” respectively. Not to be outdone, print books saw their own successes with Allen County readers including the popular “Housemaid” thriller series by Freida McFadden and Kristin Hannah’s “The Women.” 

For the younger readers, Dav Pilkey’s “Dog Man” dominated children’s literature while the latest installment of Suzanne Collins’ “Hunger Games” saga secured the entire series among the top spots for teens.  

Hollywood titles like “Gladiator II”, “Sinners” and “Star Wars” topped DVD and video game checkouts rounding out a year of stories influenced by pop culture mainstays, thrillers and mysteries, and romantic encounters.  

“These lists show just how much our community values stories in multiple formats and how passionate Allen County is about using all its library has to offer,” said ACPL Collection Services Manager Matt Etzel. “Whether it’s audiobooks on the go, eBooks, DVDs, CDs, board games, puzzles, or video games, the library continues to be a place where everyone can find something they love.”
