The Allen County Public Library’s Woodburn Branch will celebrate National Library Week with a special themed storytime inspired by a beloved children’s book series.
What: Spotlight Storytime – “If You Give a Librarian a…”
When: Wednesday, April 8, 11 a.m. – noon.
Where: Woodburn Branch (4701 State Route 101 North, Woodburn)
Who: Media are invited to take photos and conduct interviews with ACPL staff, participants, and their caregivers.
Inspired by the classic cause-and-effect storytelling style popularized by Laura Numeroff’s If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and its companion titles, this playful program will take families on a whimsical journey through what happens when you give a librarian a pancake.
Storytime will feature books, songs, and activities designed to build early literacy skills while celebrating the joy and imagination that libraries spark in young readers. Programs like this encourage children to read, sing, talk, write, and play—key components of early learning and school readiness.
“As National Library Week approaches, this is the perfect time to celebrate the small moments that spark a lifelong love of reading,” said Paige Shook, branch manager of the Woodburn Library. “Just like in the If You Give a Mouse a Cookie stories, one simple visit to the library can lead to a chain reaction of curiosity, creativity, and discovery for families.”
The event highlights the important role libraries play as community hubs for learning, connection, and fun—especially for young children and their caregivers.
