ACPL's Access Fort Wayne Receives Multiple Awards in Time for Community Media Day

Access Fort Wayne, the community media center operated by the Allen County Public Library, is celebrating Community Media Day (October 20), as well as its recent multiple wins at the 2025 Philo Festival of Media Arts awards. The annual Philo Awards, hosted by the Central States Alliance for Community Media. celebrate outstanding media production across public, educational, and governmental access television stations throughout the Midwest.
Access Fort Wayne earned top honors in multiple professional categories, including:
Documentary: History in Brief – Kay Gregg and Jessie Cortesi
Comedy/Humor: Mastication Station – Fitty Too! – Tony Lemmon, Ed Daly, and Otto Boschet
Entertainment: #463 The Concordia Choir – Produced with Worship Anew
Religious/Spiritual/Inspirational: Worship Anew #2296 – Paul C.E. Melin, Worship Anew
Arts/Cultural Awareness Finalist: Rock the Plaza – Los Electros – Los Electros, Norm Compton, Jan Howard, Paul Brandt, and Otto Boschet
Performing Arts Finalist: Meet the Music – Taj Maholics – Taj Maholics, Julia Meek, Travis Pope, and John O’Rourke
Religious/Spiritual/Inspirational Finalist: The Parliament of the World’s Religions – Eugene Gussenhoven
Religious/Spiritual/Inspirational Nonprofessional Winner: Living Green on a Blue Planet – POWR Hawaiian Mural – Carl Jylland-Halverson
“These awards showcase the exceptional creativity, technical skills, and community focus of our Access Fort Wayne team and the producers we collaborate with,” said John O’Rourke, Manager of Access Fort Wayne. “Each project represents the best of what local media can do—telling stories that matter, celebrating our community’s spirit, promoting democracy, and amplifying diverse voices that might not otherwise be heard.”
The Philo Festival of Media Arts is named in honor of Philo T. Farnsworth, the inventor of electronic television, and recognizes excellence in community media across a five-state region including Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Illinois.
