ACPL and FWCS Launch Partnership Bringing Every Second Grader to the Library

The Allen County Public Library (ACPL) and Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) are launching a new partnership designed to ensure that every FWCS second grader has a guaranteed library experience as part of the school day. The visits are part of the FWCS Schools of Success initiative, which connects classroom learning with experiences throughout the community. Through Guaranteed Experiences, students form community connections, explore industries, and learn about local cultural landmarks.

Through the partnership, second-grade students will visit the Main Library, meet librarians, and discover the many resources and services available to them. Students will tour the Children's Department, The Hive, StoryScape, The Studio at the Library, and Access Fort Wayne. They will also participate in a storytime and learn how to use their library cards to make the most of their visit. Through the course of the 2026-27 school year, the ACPL will host more than 30 visits with more than 2000 students. 

The partnership reflects a shared commitment by ACPL and FWCS to connecting young people with the library as a place to learn, create, explore and access resources throughout their education. 

WHAT: FWCS Guaranteed Experience – ACPL Storytime 

WHEN: Wednesday, September 9 at 9:15 a.m. 

WHERE: Allen County Public Library – Main Library Globe Room (900 Library Plaza) 

Media are invited to attend and see students experience the library firsthand, capture photos and video, and speak with ACPL representatives about the new partnership and its goal of making library access an integral part of every FWCS student's school experience.
