Parenting is one of the most rewarding jobs; however, it can also be challenging. The Allen County Public Library is committed to providing resources to help parents overcome whatever challenges they may face. Here are a few workshops that the library will be offering this fall that cover a variety of parenting subjects:

Learn about the issues of online predators, cyber-bullies, and teens at risk and how families can work together to stay safe while online.
This event is family friendly for ages 4th grade and up. Presenter, Crista Miller, from Giving Teens Grace will discuss these issues and more.
Reading Workshops for Parents and Children: Visualizing

Reading Workshops for Parents and Children: Questioning

Saturday, November 2 - 10:30 – 11:30 am
Parents: Are you looking for ways to help your child learn to read? Lisa Deck, licensed teacher with 25 years teaching experience and specializing in reading intervention, will model how to use a different research-based strategy at each session. Then you and your child will practice together! Bring your child and your sense of humor and be ready for a time of fun and learning.
Play with Purpose Workshop with Parents
Saturday, November 9 - 10:15 am – 12:15 pm
Little Turtle Branch
This hands-on adult’s workshop designed for parents of children 5 and under will offer you a chance to learn how to make some learning activities at home for your children. It will follow the same ideas presented at the program Play with Purpose but with items that are readily available to most people. Learn lots of ideas and leave with activities you make at the workshop.
Space is limited for all of these workshops and registration is required. Please register by calling your local branch, or through our online calendar at www.acpl.info/calendar.
