At the Allen County Public Library, we are proud to serve a community that not only values access to knowledge, but actively uses it. In 2025, our circulation reached 11.8 items per capita—nearly double the national average—demonstrating how deeply residents rely on the library as an essential, everyday resource.
That engagement extends beyond our collections. With expanded programs, outreach, and more than 11,000 community meetings and gatherings in our spaces, the library continues to serve as a vital hub for connection, learning, and opportunity.
This impact is reflected in our growing community of patrons. We welcomed more than 22,000 new cardholders this year—including 8,000 students through our partnership with Fort Wayne Community Schools—bringing us to 57% of county residents with a library card and more than 1.6 million visits. These numbers reflect the value our community places on the library and the importance of sustaining it for generations to come.
So as you read this Community Impact Report, I hope you’ll see what I see: strong metrics from an organization dedicated to its community and steadfast in its mission. We’re a special place here at the ACPL, and we’re grateful you’re a part of it
