TEAM READ TEEN READER
Part-time summer position for a motivated high school student. The schedule for the teen reader will be a varied four-hour daytime shift Monday – Friday. Teen reader pays $8.71 per hour. If you are interested in being a teen reader, you must be 16 years of age or older, have good interpersonal communication skills for interacting with young children, be able to encourage participation by all the children in daily activities and be a team player. Applicants must be able to read a children’s book out-loud (with expression), have a genuine interest in children, possess the physical stamina sufficient for walking in parks, as well as the ability to lift at least 30 lbs. are essential, be able to read well to a group and to actively listen as the children read aloud. Responsibilities of the teen reader include reading and playing games with lower elementary aged children in various sites within Allen County and other tasks as assigned. The Team Read Project begins June 9, 2014 and ends July 25, 2014 (subject to change). REQUIRED: Please submit a letter of reference from a non-family member. The letter should include in what capacity the person knows you plus a word about your work habits, integrity and any skills they know you have that would make you a good candidate for this job. The Dewey Decimal skills test may be taken during regular business hours in the Human Resources office or at any of our library branches.
* Applications and skills test scores are held from January 1st through December 31st of each year. If you apply for a position after January 1st that requires a skills test, you will need to take the skills test again for the new year.
