This is the story of Vicky and her struggle with depression. Her depression became so severe that she tried to take her own life. Fortunately, she was found before it was too late. She is taken to Lakeview Hospital where she meets three other young people struggling with mental illness and personal issues. Their psychiatrist, Dr. Desai, encourages them to learn from each other and discover what gives their lives meaning. Vicky continues to struggle, but over time it seems like maybe she does have something to live for.

This story is very powerful and will inspire anyone who struggles with mental illness to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The author personally dealt with extreme depression and that shines through in the realistic and insightful writing. I would recommend this poignant book to anyone who wants to learn more about mental illness.
