FIRST Lego League coming soon!

by Mari H. | Aug 28, 2015
Students age 11 to 14 are invited to join ACPL's first ever FIRST Lego League (FLL) team.  What is FLL?  It's a educational program and competition involving Mindstorms robotics in which students are challenged to think about and research a complex topic and come up with ideas for solutions.  This year's challenge, announced just today in the above video, is Trash Trek.

Our team will be coached by engineers Dr. Martin Stern and Dr. Tim Loos.  the team will meet each Tuesday beginning September 8th from 4:00-6:00PM in Main Library Young Adults' Services to learn about robotics, do research, and prepare for the competition.  Interested students: please call 421-1255 to sign up.  Space is limited.

Mari HMari H, Contributor - Mari remembers when angel sleeves were popular.  Her favorite book at that time was the 101 Dalmatians.  When everyone was wearing leg warmers and prairie skirts, she was immersed in Middle-earth.  Flannel shirts remind her of encounters with Annie Dillard, Toni Morrison, and Milan Kundera.  Nowadays, she is learning to sew her own clothes, reads a lot, and enjoys helping people find books they will love.
