United Tastes of America: An Atlas of Food Facts & Recipes From Every State
by Gabrielle Langholtz
Wouldn't it be fun to take a tour of the USA and try regional food at every stop? You might know what's tasty in your home state, but what about dishes known in states hundreds of miles away? If your summer plans don't include this kind of road trip, here's a book to help your taste buds travel.
United Tastes of America
has more than 200 pages of state facts, maps, and simple recipes. One of my favorite things about this kind of book is the conversations they can start. Kids and adults alike will ask "I wonder what that tastes like?" or "Why would you eat that?" I also like the eye catching mix of drawings and photos which make this book a treat for the eyes too.
Take a look at this new book and learn about pog juice, the bobbie, runza, and comeback sauce. What recipe was chosen to represent Indiana? You'll have to check out the book to find out, but I'll give you a hint. It has five ingredients and when it's done it's kind of wiggly.
