Emmanuel's Dream: The True Story of Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah, written by Laurie Ann Thompson and illustrated by Sean Qualls, is an amazing story about a boy from Ghana. Emmanuel was born with a deformed left leg. With encouragement from his mother, Emmanuel overcomes many obstacles and becomes an inspiration and advocate for those with disabilities. He is able to attend school, work, and eventually rides a bike on a long distance journey around his country. As he travels he spreads awareness that just because you have a disability it doesn't mean you have an inability. This is a beautiful story with wonderful pictures and I think it is really good for children to read because it will help them learn about those with disabilities, as well as those from other cultures.

This book is available in print or as an ebook on Overdrive. It has won many awards and is recommended for children grades K-2. It is a very inspirational story that I highly recommend! Click the picture of the book's cover to place on hold!
