You can receive a consultation for up to 30 minutes for a pre-paid $40 fee. After the initial 30 minutes, the attorney will charge his/her regular hourly rate. Personal injury, social security, worker's compensation and medical malpractice cases are not charged the $40 consultation fee.

Indiana Legal Services (ILS) is a nonprofit law firm that provides free civil legal assistance to eligible low-income people throughout the state of Indiana. ILS helps clients who are faced with legal problems that harm their ability to have such basics as food, shelter, income, medical care or personal safety. Most of the cases ILS handles are family law where there is domestic violence, housing, consumer law, access to health care, and access to government benefits. ILS does not handle any criminal matters.

The Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic (NCLC) accepts clients whose income is at or below 125 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. They do not take criminal or divorce cases.

The Volunteer Lawyer Program of Northeast Indiana, Inc. (VLP) serves low income residents in adoptions, guardianships, family law, immigration, small claims, bankruptcy, consumer/collections, real estate, landlord/tenant, contracts, wills, power of attorney, health care directives, estate law, and tort defense. The VLP does not handle matters relating to traffic, driver's licenses or criminal charges. Also, they do not accept fee generating cases such as personal injury.
