Programs and Services

Book Drop
Our dropbox is located to the right of the front door. It is accessible 24 hours a day.

Children’s Programming
In addition to two weekly storytimes, we have an after-school program for children in 1st-5th grades each Wednesday afternoon during the school year at 4:00pm. In summer, we also have many programs for all ages.

Computer How-To Workshops
A one-hour Internet Basics workshop is offered the first Tuesday of each month at 1:00pm. No registration is necessary.

Computer Resources
The Hessen Cassel Branch has 12 PC computers with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet. Four Macintosh G-4 computers are also available. They are outfitted with a variety of games for children.
Computers must be reserved in person on the day of the desired appointment, using a library card.  Visitors from outside Allen County may request a guest pass at the desk.

Crafters’ Circle
The 4th Thursday night of each month we gather at 6:30pm to work on our portable craft projects and to learn from each other. The meeting often begins with a demonstration of a crafting technique.

Family Movie Night
Just like a night out at the movies – only free! The 2nd Thursday night of each month at we show a popular movie that is rated G or PG. Popcorn and other snacks are provided.

ILL (InterLibrary Loan)
If we don't have the book you are looking for we will try to borrow that book from another library system. There is no charge for this service. See Interlibrary Loan

Multimedia Resources
Not only can you browse and check out a wide selection of books, but you can also borrow magazines, videos, books on tape or CD, music CDs, CD-ROMs, and DVDs.

Novel Ideas Book Discussion Group
Our book discussion group, Novel Ideas, meets one Saturday each month from September through May. In June, July, and August, when we are closed on Saturdays, we meet on a weekday morning instead.

Photocopy Machine
Our copy machine can enlarge or reduce, and costs 10 cents per copy. Both 8-1/2" X 11" and 11" X 17" paper are available.

Scholarship and College Information
One Saturday each month we have an informational workshop in which we library resources to plan for college, careers, scholarships, and ACT or SAT test preparation.

Storytimes
Toddlers and their caregivers meet on Mondays at 10:15. Preschoolers and their caregivers meet on Wednesdays at 10:30. Both programs are filled with stories, songs and fun.

Teen Tuesdays
Each Tuesday at 3:45pm, we have a program for 6th-12th graders. The program varies from week to week, but is always lots of fun!

WiFi Access & Printing
The Allen County Public Library is a free WiFi zone! Bring your laptop and connect using your email address or library card number.

Write On! Writer’s Group
The Write On! group meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday nights of each month at 6:30pm. On the 1st Thursday we bring our writing to the group for critique, and on the 3rd Thursday we have a writing workshop, sometimes with a guest speaker.
