MAC OS 8-9 platforms: iMAC computers, G3 & G4 towers
  1. Open the Apple Menu by clicking on the colorful apple in the upper-left corner of the monitor.
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. Double click Remote Access.
  4. Click on Registered User. Enter the following data in the fields displayed:
    • Username: (library card number without spaces)
    • Password: Same as USERNAME
    • Save Password: Place a check in the SAVE PASSWORD dialog box.
    • Number: 489 -7087
  5. Click Options button at the bottom of the Remote Access Window
  6. In the Options window, select the Protocol tab and make sure that the middle 2 (of the 4 variable) checkboxes are checked. The top checkbox is optional; we recommend leaving it unchecked.
  7. Make sure that the drop-down menu next to Use Protocol is set to "PPP".
  8. Close the window; save if prompted. You'll be back on the Remote Access window.
  9. Click the Remote Access menu at the top of the screen, to the right of the Apple Menu.
  10. Within the Remote Access menu, select Modem and make sure that the correct internal modem type is selected (iMAC or G3 internal, etc.).
  11. Close the menu; save if prompted.
  12. Click to open the Remote Access pull-down menu again.
  13. Select TCP/IP... Make sure the following fields are set as shown below:
    • Connect Via: PPP
    • Configure: Using PPP server
    • Name Server address:
        - Enter the Primary DNS 199.8.210.14
        - After the first line, press the Enter key
        - Then type in the Secondary BLANK
    • Search Domains: BLANK
  14. Close the TCP/IP window and Save changes.
  15. Close the Remote Access window and Save changes.
From now on, whenever you want to either connect (or disconnect) to the library, go to the Remote Access Control Panel, then click on Connect. The status dialog box at the bottom of the Remote Access dialog box will change when you connect to show the sending and receiving rates. Once you've connected, launch your browser with www.acpl.lib.in.us
