ACPL Poetry Contest 2008 -- Go Green!
Here are the guidelines for the 2008 Allen County Public Library Poetry Contest.
The theme chosen for this year is:
"Go Green!".
Entries will be accepted from Monday, September 22 through Monday, November 3, 2008.
- The Poetry Contest is open to all children in Grades Kindergarten through
Five, and all young adults in Grades Six through Twelve.
- Only one entry per student.
- Poem must be student's original work.
- All entries must be submitted on 8 ½” x 11” paper.
- All entries must have the following information on the back of the
poem.
- Student's Name
- Address
- Phone Number
- School
- Grade
- Contest begins on Monday, September 22, 2008.
- All entries must be received in the mail or turned in at the Allen
County Public Library Children's Services or Young Adults' Services
department by 9:00 p.m., Monday, November 3, 2008.
- Criteria for judging of poems includes:
- understanding the concept of a "poem"
- following the theme "Go Green!"
- creativity
- legibility
- originality
- First, Second, Third, and Honorable Mention will be chosen for
each category.
- Winners will be notified by mail.
- Winning poets will be honored at a Poetry Awards Ceremony at the newly
opened Main Library on Saturday,
December 6, 2008.
- All Poetry Contest entries become the property of the Allen County
Public Library.

The ACPL Poetry Contest is sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Young
Adults Services, and Children's Services.
