Book Awards: Caldecott Medal
2012 Mock Caldecott Election
This year, the Children's Services department will be holding two Mock Caldecott programs.
Teachers, librarians, parents, and other picture book lovers may sign up
to participate in our traditional Mock Caldecott Discussion &
Election, to be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Come learn about the
Caldecott Medal and help us choose the most
distinguished American picture book for children published in 2011.
No experience
necessary!
We also held a Mock Caldecott Election for Families on Saturday, December 10 & Sunday, December 11, 2011.
Families were invited to drop in, look over our collection of this year's
best books, and vote for their favorites. See the ACPL Kid Blog
for winning titles from this program.
We invite everyone to join in the
discussion of new picture book titles currently underway on the
ACPL Mock Caldecott Blog.
Our plan has been to narrow down these titles to a "short list", with several updates over the course of the year -- and your comments
on the blog have helped us do so. Below you will find the final edition of our short reading list; titles new to the list are in bold.

NOTE: All call numbers are for the Allen County Public Library,
Fort Wayne, Indiana.
