Video, DVD and Video Game Policies

3-Day DVDs and Videos: Include major motion pictures, televsion shows, made-for-TV specials, stand-up comedy, music videos, foreign films and other feature entertainment on DVD. Some foreign films are on VHS. Some movies are on Blu-Ray DVD.

21-Day Videos and DVDs: Include educational materials, documentaries and other items as determined.

Circulation Period and Check Out Limits:
ALWAYS CHECK YOUR DUE DATE RECEIPT. 3-Day DVDs and Videos are identified with a 3-DAY LOAN sticker and genre labels (Drama, Comedy, etc.). The check out period is three days; for example, an item checked out on Monday is due back on Thursday. 21-Day Videos and DVDs are due three weeks after they are checked out. 7-day Express Video Games are identified with an Express label and are due a week after they are checked out. Newly registered cardholders must wait until they have received and presented their acknowledgment card (or two weeks) before they can check out media.

  • 21-Day Video Games: Limit of 6
  • 21-Day DVDs: Unlimited
  • VHS Videos, regardless of loan period: Unlimited

Renewal Limits:
3-Day DVDs and Videos: 1 renewal
7-Day Express Video Games: No renewals
21-Day Videos and DVDs: 5 renewals (if no holds are on items)
Materials may be renewed at the Main Library or at any branch library, by phone using our renewal line (421-1240), or via our website (www.acpl.info).

Overdue Fees:
3-Day DVDs and Videos: $1.00 per day
7-Day Express Video Games: $1.00 per day
21-Day Videos and DVDs: $.25 cents per day
NO EXCEPTIONS. NO GRACE PERIOD.

Age Limits:
No age requirements except on 3-Day DVDs and Videos. 3-Day DVDs and VHS with a yellow label over the call number may be checked out by anyone. 3-Day DVDs and VHS with a green label are rated R and require a patron to be 18 years of age to check them out.

Returns:
Videos, DVDs, and Video Games may be returned to the Main Library return boxes on the first floor or the outside drop boxes. They may also be returned to any branch location. Videos and DVDs may also be returned to the Art, Music & Media department on the second floor.

Reserves:
3-Day Videos and DVDs: No reserves or holds. NO EXCEPTIONS.
7-Day Express Video Games: No reserves or holds. NO EXCEPTIONS.
21-Day Videos and DVDs: You may place holds on 21-Day Videos or DVDs. Cardholders are limited to 5 holds. You will receive a notice in the mail or by email when the item is available for pickup at your chosen library location.

Damage to Equipment: The library is not responsible for any damage to patron's audio or video equipment.

Search Help:
DVDs can be found via our catalog by searching for the TITLE and then clicking on the icon for Video Recordings. Use Refine option to then select DVD, VHS, Blu-Ray, educational items, etc.

New 2014 DVDs.
Blu-Ray DVDs in the ACPL collection.
New 2014 Blu-Ray DVDs.
