3D Printing in the Maker Lab at Main

3D Printed Items cost $3.00 per item once successfully printed via one of our MakerBot Replicator 2 or Affinia 3D Printing Machines using PLA plastic that comes in coil form.

3D Printing can be achieved by bringing a 3D file in the .obj .thing or .stl file formats.

If you do not have the ability to create one of those files you can use some freeware services available on the internet.

www.TINKERCAD.com

you can take a tutorial that will easily teach you how to use template objects to build a design for whatever you may wish to print. On this site you can create a free user account to save multiple designs, you are able to go back to a design to modify or print again

www.THINGiVERSE.com

you can browse through already designed items that can easily be downloaded and printed

3D Print objects can take a number of hours to print on the machines depending on complexity of design, size and quality setting desired. Please plan accordingly for this. ACPL Staff must Pause a print overnight as there is a fire hazard to allowing the machines to run while no staff are present. If you leave a print running please provide staff with your name and contact information as well as a description of the final product.
