Arrow Additional Resources

Welcome to Allen County Public Library's community computer center, managed by Access Fort Wayne. We are pleased to provide these additional computer resources for your use.

Scheduling Reservations made be made in person using your library card and the ACPL's new PC Reservation system. If you do not have a ACPL library card, guest cards are available for out-of-town patrons.
  • Telephone reservations can no longer be accepted.
  • There are 4 computers that are reserved as EXPRESS systems for use up to 15 minutes at a time to patrons on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Reservations for computer use will be held for ten (10) minutes past the appointment time. After that, the reservation is cancelled and the equipment will be made available to others wishing to use it.
  • There are no charges for using the computers. In order to print, however, you must first add money to your account. Printing costs 5 cents per page.

Computer Center Hours

Monday - Thursday 9:30am - 9:00pm
Friday - Saturday 9:30am - 6:00pm
(Begins weekend after Labor Day
and ends weekend before Memorial Day)
12:00pm - 5:00pm
  • Due to the high demand for unemployment filing, the computer center will be reserved from 12pm to 2pm on Sundays for unemployment filing ONLY until further notice. Patrons will not need a library card to file for unemployment during these hours. After 2pm, the computers will be switched over so that patrons may reserve them for other uses.
  • The computer center will be closed to the public at other times for specialized community training workshops. Closing dates and times will be posted in the computer center.

Computer Equipment and Software Available

Word Processing
  • You CANNOT add your own paper to these printers.
  • Twenty-four IBM compatibles with Pentium microprocessors with Windows XP for Internet using Internet Explorer.  These computers are also available for word processing using MS Office.  All IBM compatibles share the Hewlett Packard laser printers.
  • One typewriter is available on a first come, first serve basis.

Computer Resources: Guidelines for Usage

  • All Allen County Public Library policies apply to patrons using the computer center.
  • Only one computer reservation is allowed at a time per user or library account.
  • The library does not lend or sell headphones. Patrons must bring their own if they wish to listen to audio on public computers.
  • Library computer workstations may not be used to view sexually explicite material that appeals to the prurient interest. If a library staff member observes a person viewing such material that person will be directed to remove the material from the computer screen and refrain from viewing such material in the future. Any person who refuses to comply with these directions will be asked to leave the library premises. Library security staff and/or law enforcement personnel may be called to enforce compliance with such a request.
  • The staff can help you start the program, but cannot provide tutoring or hands-on assistance. Should you need help, there are reference books available to assist you.
  • If you wish to save a file you must bring in a jump drive or pre-formatted disk. The Macintosh and IBM computers require a 3.50 computer disk.
  • Only program applications provided by the library may be used on the library's computers.
  • The library is NOT responsible for lost files, computer glitches, or any other unforeseen problems.
  • Please do not abuse the equipment or over load the printers with excess print requests.
  • The library DOES NOT provide E-mail accounts for patrons.
  • Library staff CANNOT assist patrons with tax help.
  • No reference assistance is available; instead, we will direct patrons to the department or agency that can best serve their needs based on the subject matter.
